Information at our fingertips...finally?

Google says; all the worlds information universally accessible and useful

Amazon says; all literature universally accessible on the Kindle...within 60 seconds!

Google Book Search; all literature universally accessible and...maybe purchasable on any eReader? (Watch out Amazon?)

Apple iTunes; all music and video accessible online

Facebook, MySpace, etc; all my friends and I accessible

Facebook Connect & Google's Open Social; my entire social graph universally accessible and useful

Flickr; all the worlds pictures/albums universally accessible

Twitter; all the worlds presence and thought(s) instantaneously accessible

...and we could go on and on...similarities are pretty clear though! Maybe Bill Gates was kinda right when he said; Information at your fingertips ...Mmmmmm

With investors shrivelling as we speak, does twitter have a future on mobile phones and if so what is the business model they have to gun for?

So Twitter is enabled and used on mobile phones today - that's there already. Does it have a future on mobile phones? Absolutely...considering this is the most ubiquitous device on the planet...they'll have to have a strong mobile play! We're already seeing folks like Fring and Retweet for the iPhone popping up.

Business models? We're still unsure of how they'll make money but there are others incorporating the service and making money. Checking out this article; http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123793945676332341.html

"Twitter co-founder Biz Stone says the San Francisco start-up is watching the outside initiatives closely as it prepares to launch its own fee-based services this year, but doesn't view them as competition."

They also have quite a bit of cash in the bank right now - check this out; http://blog.twitter.com/2009/02/opportunity-knocks.html

Well, here are several "business models"; 1. Get acquired - i.e. take the money and run ;-) 2. Innovate around the platform - i.e. introduce, as they have, twitter search and maybe monetize via an advertising model similar to Google (see my twitter post below) 3. Create rich client capabilities for advanced mobile phones 4. Partner with third parties that deliver a service using Twitter with a back to back agreement/license e.g. http://www.exectweets.com/ or maybe even strike deals with the most followed and popular tweats (i.e similar to Google adsense for high end twitter's) 5. Create broader community and social features 6. Build Twitter into more consumer devices/appliances 7. Twitter adult content network spinoff's? Hey, the stuff sells and makes more money than any other "stuff" online ;-)

Thinking about this a little more...thanks for the for questions!!
